Tokyo Police Club's rise to fame has been swift and meteoric - don't miss this chance to catch one of Canada's most exciting live bands, free at Nathan Phillips Square! With the #1 album at Canadian College Radio charts in 2006, a Much Music Video Award in 2007 and boisterous appearances at international festivals Glastonbury and Coachella, Tokyo Police Club are destined for rock stardom.
Formed in 2005, they released their debut EP, A Lesson in Crime, in 2006 on Paper Bag Records. It hit like a tornado and earned them a loyal international following, landing them a recording contract with powerhouse label Saddle Creek for a full-length album to be released in 2008.

The Weakerthans
Saturday, February 2
8:45 - 10 pm
Back in Toronto especially for their WinterCity gig, The Weakerthans hail from Winnipeg. Their deeply poetic music channels the spirit of punk, bar room rock and folk, led by lyrics inspired by the best of contemporary literature and progressive politics.
Holding firm roots in the indie scene in North America since 1997 and having long been heralded for their lyrical ingenuity, The Weakerthans are still a rock band, and their new album Reunion Tour, released in 2007, is a musical triumph -- lush and energetic, infectious and unforgettable. Their live show is an extension of the tight professionalism they display in the studio - they are not to be missed!
