Friday Jan 12 - Promise Skating Night at Harbourfront Centre

Friday January 12th, 8 - 11pm
Promise Dj Skating Party at Harbourfront Centre

Ever let a whole winter slip by without going skating? You should go at least once a year and so you should come to this. Children are totally welcome, or bring a date, or even a bunch of rowdy friends for fresh air before going out clubbing. This was an awesome evening last year so really make a point of coming out. Here's the information:

DJs
Violet (deep dub)
Benjamin Boles (funk and disco)
Jonny White (techno and house)

We've again been invited by Harbourfront Centre to host a skating night down at the Natrel rink. It's a truly gorgeous venue with a stunning view right beside the water. The rink is outdoors and there's an indoor bar service, snack shop, and complimentary hot chocolate supplied by the rink sponsor Natrel, which is nice.
If you don't have skates, rentals are available at the rink as well as lockers and a sharpening service for your old blades. Owing to the high romantic quotient of this event we recommend you bring someone to snuggle.
And, as it's Irving birthday that weekend, we'll be celebrating it at the rink on friday. If you have a birthday coming up and would like to celebrate it there too that would be great, let us know and please come down. The music ends at 11pm sharpish, so come down nice and early.

Update and strategy on summer Cherry Beach parties.

Thanks to Now magazine and Spacing and others who have taken notice about the changing situation down at Cherry Beach this year and are supporting our intentions. We are currently embarking on a strategy to find out how to continue our Sunday Afternoon Soundsystems as an ongoing part of the city. There are numerous examples of similar events all over the civilized world - so for Toronto it's an obvious match.
If you have tips or suggestions or moral support to offer us, we would very much appreciate it. If you are in a local arts or political or business organization and would like to offer a few official words of local support for these events, that will serve to help our case as a community. As well, if you have any interested contacts in City Council, these are the people who decide on all our behalf the type of city we live in, so pass on any contacts who will help us. Thanks recently for advice from Yvonne of Pedestrian Sundays in Kensington market, Alex D from Tribe, Mike Layton from Environmental Defense, Ari from the drumming circle group and Frances from Moog Audio.

Thanks, and see you at the rink on friday!
cheers,
David and Irving
