Who framed roger rabbit sequel in the works?!

Robert Zemeckis is a director who is known for pushing technology forward with his films, but I think one of the things that makes him a great director is that he actually uses the tech to enhance the story, rather than doing things the other way around. Back in 1988, his movie Who Framed Roger Rabbit won an Oscar for Best Visual Effects when it combined 2-D animation with live action. 20 years later, Zemeckis is now pretty heavily involved in 3-D motion capture technology for movies like The Polar Express and Beowulf, but it seems that he still hasn’t forgotten about that wacky animated rabbit and his hot wife Jessica.
MTV Movies Blog recently talked with Robert Zemeckis, and he revealed that a Roger Rabbit sequel might actually be one of his next projects:
“I’ll tell you what is buzzing around in my head now that we have the ability—the digital tools, performance capture—I’m starting to think about Roger Rabbit.”
Although he couldn’t offer any additional information as of yet, my interest is certainly piqued. There have been rumours in the past about both a Who Framed Roger Rabbit sequel and also a prequel, the former of which apparently had a finished script. I’m pretty curious to see what he might come up with for this, although I’m still not sure exactly how he would use performance capture tech within a world that is supposed to be exaggerated and cartoony.
