Who ordered the Magnitude?

"View the Milky Way at 10 million light years from the Earth. Then move through space towards the Earth in successive orders of magnitude until you reach a tall oak tree just outside the buildings of the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory in Tallahassee, Florida. After that, begin to move from the actual size of a leaf into a microscopic world that reveals leaf cell walls, the cell nucleus, chromatin, DNA and finally, into the subatomic universe of electrons and protons."

Regrettably, Roger kicks puppies/eats babies

Well this friggin sucks. The Toronto Star published an interesting piece on Thursday... Rogers is killing the CityFido plans dead. The new replacement plans include the benefits of a "greatly reduced" free calling zone and 50cent/min fees when roaming outside these regions. People seem generally happy with the changes. I'm glad I stayed with my grandfathered 1350min $50 free e/w starting at 6pm plan with Bell. With the PAINFULLY crappy service I've been getting from Bell I was ready to jump ship to anyone, in spite of any cancellation fee.
From Tyler Hamilton's blog:(he wrote the TorStar piece)
"The original CityFido offered the following: Unlimited local calling, number portability and included the service access charge (normally an additional cost of $6.95) for a grand, tidy total of $45.
The new CityFido still includes the service access fee and LNP, but here's what has changed: A $45 plan with only 750 minutes or a $65 plan with 1,500 minutes. No more unlimited local calling. Also, it has made the local calling area smaller to make it "more urban-focused." Gee, thanks. Calls made outside the zone will cost 50 cents a minute -- Yikes! Calls made after plan minutes are used up cost 30 cents a minute. Yikes again!
You'd get a better deal signing up for a U.S. wireless plan. 50 cents a call? Are we operating in 1988 or something? Customers on the older plan will only be grandfathered for a year.
Existing CityFido customers should be p*ssed, and the Competition Bureau should be ashamed for permitting Rogers acquisition of Fido without imposing some conditions. The analysts I'm talking to say this "redesign" is the last step before completely killing Fido, likely sometime next year."

Jaysay:I predict the birth of Virgin Wireless will not bring the promising alternative others predict. Reselling the already pricey Bell Mobility services will result in crappy long term contracts and only slightly cooler phones. From what they're advertising in the States, I am unimpressed.

Logitech Canada Bluetooth Earpieces SHIP

I signed up for the announcement list for Logitech Canada's "Mobile" and "Mobile Freedom" headsets about a year ago, when they were first posted to their website. Looks like as of Thursday last week they've been shipping, but the cheaper ($79CDN) and arguably less borg like model is now out of stock. Ya so really I have no useful information for you, thanks for reading.

MSN Buggr'd too!

Following in the entrepreneurial lead of Flickr. My MSN client has unceremoniously kicked me out of MSN. If anyone wants me I'll be on Chatango. Conveniently located right on this page, scroll up and type away or follow this link-> http://jtronforce.chatango.com

It's running on my home pc, so I'm going to be a bit slow. If it shows that i've been idle for a while, leave the box open, I'll respond in a while.
->UPDATE<-
3:00pm MSN logged me back in. But no one else is online or seems to be able to get in. So whoever the hell "Thorhammer" is, you can just text me there.... freak.

Flickr still Buggr'd-Picasa-Roxy-Exeem

Seems the word of mouth tales of Flickr's awesomeness have lead to an unexpected spike in usage. As a result Flickr has begun the database "en-goodification" process and blogged the results throughout. An expected outage was announced with this quote.
"Flickr down on Saturday night - you should probably be out dancing anyway
Step three of our database en-goodification project is about to begin, which means that the Flickr website will be unavailable for up to two hours. Status messages will occasionally be posted here, if relevant. And photos posted to external sites will continue to be served, as usual.
Have fun dancing.
Every post you'd expect to be official corporate apology or explanation is infused with some sort of wit. Kudos. I hope you don't sell your site and have my photos end up in the hands of some corporate turd. Lest you end up like Nullsoft.
Another unexpected perk is the new Flickr web-based photo management tool (the demo of which I can't view because I don't have QT on this machine }:/
http://www.flickr.com/tools/organizr.gne

Picasa also went 2.0 the other day. . There was a in-depth on the creator in USA Today-looky
PC magazine already has a review here. I'll post a review of the 2.0 software when I am able to sleep enough to see things in colour. I hardy party a little too much thanks to Uma and Chris. I ended the night with a serving of my signature "blazing dishtowel chicken surprise" Special thanks to Beth who not only holds reign over all dancefloors, but is also an adept fire safety engineer. (fuzzy slippers should not be used to stamp out fires) Those who rocked it at RoxyBlu-Mike Tull and Lopez doing back 2 back and whoever played "The Specials-A Message to you Rudy" That track will be cemented in my brain for the next 3 months. .....stop ya messin' around.....betta think of yo fewcha...

Exeem is out (allthingschristie 0wnz) I loaded it up, it's actually a bit beyond a traditional Bittorent client, it has a local share as well that other users can search. Looks like at 9am on a Sunday there are around 17,000ish users online right now sharing 11,000ish files. I threw up a search for "Lost" which rules by the way and got 30 results all of which were relevant. I clicked a link listed with 2 peers and it looks like my download found the metadata, but the actual download has stalled. harumph.

uma-msn is down. chat via this site's chat box.

TrayThis-minimize any task to tray

Found this via a SageTV forum while trying to find PC controls for a Motorola cable box to be used over a serial IR Blaster. Girder first came to mind, but I cant figure out how profiles blug in and whether it requires exclusive control of the device. Brain hurt.
From the BettaSoft Website
"Reclaim Control
Losing control of your desktop? Try TrayThis. TrayThis was designed to put control of your desktop back where it belongs, in your hands. With TrayThis, you now have ultimate control over how applications use, or in many cases abuse, the Windows taskbar and the taskbar notification area, also known as the system tray.

Using rules you define, TrayThis can control a running application's window(s) and/or notification icon(s). Rules define the action to be taken, when to take the action, and which window or notification icon the action should be taken upon. For example, you can define a rule that will put your e-mail application (e.g. Mozilla Thunderbird) in the taskbar notification area when you minimize it.
-$10 worth it?

Look what I found.(asf)

This is called, Jay locked himself out of his home pc, and has picked through his bookmarks like 5 times. I F11'd the CP24 live stream page and viewed the source, picked out the stream and kept adding 1 to the reflector number until I found this. This is actually more exciting than what I've been doing today.
I declare Ontario Monsoon safe today.

Nimiq - **Increase your Pants Enjoyment**

Anyone else seeing a strange increase in SPAM in the last few days? Thank jeebus for Gmail's rock solid filtering. At my current employer they actually have a human in charge of the heuristic filters. It's actually pretty impressive.
Ok it's 8:00am and my SD card is fully loaded with a nice cross section of Podcasts thanks to a software pick by the Chris Biscuit. It's from the Netherlands, so it must be good. Nimiq scores extra points for it's "easy...even-with-one-eye-open-at-6am" installation. Kudos on the ambiguously special pink branding too.
Nimiq is a rss enclosure ripper written in .NET. It downloads all sorts of enclosures. There is support for iTunes and media player. You can also play around with the build in opml browser. You can also listen to the audio while it is downloading by Double Clicking on the progress bar.

Sites I found when Google got confused.

http://yugop.com crazy interactive digital art deemed "Pretty" (flash)

Also: http://www.Techworthy.com and http://www.techworthy.com/Blog/index.htm
has a few articles I haven't seen on other tech sites. I don't know who they are, and it had nothing to do with the Don King ESPN lawsuit that I was googling, but they look promising.
Oh yeah from what I understand...Dr."King"Evil is asking for 2 Billion from ESPN in his defamation suit. Ouch! I hear they took his mom out for a fine seafood dinner and then never called her back. terrible.

Podcast links

http://www.podcastalley.com/

Dont worry...not a link to a j1.ca podcast! The world heard enough of me talking on Flylife Radio.
After purchasing the insanely handy Lexar jumpdrive Trio USB SD card read/writer to replace my (being repaired) laptop, I'm looking for commute filling podcasts. This link was mentioned on the Engadget podcast I loaded on my handy 512MB chip before my laptop busted before Festivus. It seems to be the best resource for podcast links that I've seen thus far.
